Police chase, nearby standoff causes ‘brief’ Simmons-Pinckney Middle lockdown

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A multijurisdictional chase ended in a short standoff in downtown Charleston Friday morning, placing a middle school on lockdown and stopping traffic on the crosstown.

Charleston Police Sgt. Daniel Wilson said Charleston Police assisted the North Charleston Police Department with the chase, which reportedly began in NCPD’s jurisdiction but ended downtown by Simmons-Pinckney Middle School.
