Tri-county voters to decide school board, 1st District and ballot initiatives

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Voters in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District will choose a new representative Nov. 3, with Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt and Democrat Nancy Lacore competing for the coastal seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace.

The race has drawn new attention in the final stretch. The Cook Political Report shifted its rating from Lean Republican to Toss-up on Oct. 30, citing Lacore’s fundraising advantage and the district’s potential competitiveness. The district leans Republican but was won by a Democrat in 2018.
