CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) arrested a man following an early Tuesday morning homicide in West Ashley. Derek Rashon Johnson, 31, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The charges are in connection with the death of 42-year-old Michael Simmons of Charleston, who died from a gunshot wound, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
