Driver arrested in ‘Widowmaker’ tree collision that killed four men: CPD

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) – The driver involved in a fatal collision with a tree in James Island has been arrested by the Charleston Police Department (CPD). Brittany Nicole Roper, 26, of James Island is charged with four counts of felony driving under the influence (DUI). The CPD announced her arrest on Jan. 25 and she is currently being held at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center, pending a bond hearing.
