“Fruit of the Loom” Will Be Closing Its Facility in This SC City, and It Will Impact 119 Workers

According to a new report published by Live 5 News, Fruit of the Loom will close its facility in SC by mid-year. According to the report, the Fruit of the Loom distribution center in Summerville will begin the closing process on March 22 which will impact 119 workers.

According to Melanie Cressman, a spokesperson for the Fruit of the Loom, the closing process will take several months and it should be done by July 1. Cressman released a statement saying, “As a global Company operating in a highly competitive marketplace, the Fruit of the Loom, Inc., is constantly analyzing its business to ensure we remain as competitive as possible. After an extensive review of our distribution network, the decision was made to close the distribution center in Summerville, SC in support of a consolidation strategy.”.

Cressman stated that the workers will receive benefits and assistance and that the company has asked state and local officials to assist the impacted workers.
