Charleston officers finish pizza delivery for driver involved in crash

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – It’s a motto for law enforcement agencies across the country, “To protect and serve…” but that saying became a game-time decision for two Charleston police officers last week.

The officers responded to a Jan. 21 crash on Bees Ferry Road, which involved a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver. Once there, they learned the driver needed to be taken via EMS to a local hospital.

Instead of leaving the pizza behind, officers Robert Haid and Pasqueale Cuccaro volunteered to complete the pizza delivery.

Officials with Charleston PD’s public information team said the customer was surprised but grateful for the delivery. They also say the pizza delivery driver is expected to make a full recovery.

“Officers Haid and Cuccaro never mind going out of their way to make someone’s day better,” the department said.
