A South Carolina Man Was Not Happy at Disney World. He Allegedly Slapped Worker Over Dress Code

He is scheduled to appear in court next month

A man is scheduled to appear in court next month after he allegedly drunkenly slapped an employee at Walt Disney World over a restaurant’s dress code.

South Carolina resident John Munro, 64, was charged with battery following an incident at the Cítricos restaurant in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in November 2023, FOX 35 Orlando reported. He pleaded not guilty and will appear in court for a pre-trial conference hearing on Feb. 16.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a battery in the restaurant on Nov. 19, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the station.

Before the incident, the restaurant host was checking in a group with a reservation for three, but the party had four people in it. Munro was part of the group, and his clothes did not meet the restaurant’s dress code, according to the affidavit. He was reportedly wearing swim shorts and a T-shirt.

The restaurant’s website asks guests to “dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.” The policy also clearly states that swimwear is not permitted.
