Fish Swimming With Cockroaches, Dogs in Cages and Three Large Rabbits Found in ‘Deplorable’ South Carolina Home

Animal Control found that more than 20 pets were ‘surrounded by trash and filth’

Three people were arrested in South Carolina after it was discovered they were housing more than 20 pets in “deplorable condition.”

The Animal Control Unit for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office searched a house and found that nearly two dozen animals were being mistreated, including three large rabbits being forced to live in a bird cage and fish swimming with cockroaches.

“In the living room, deputies found dogs in cages who hadn’t been taken out, surrounded by trash and filth,” Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook .

Animal Control rescued 5 dogs, 3 rabbits, 2 doves, 2 guinea pigs, a beta fish, a turtle, a chicken, and several cats.

Dianne Cricket Osborne, Gladys Ruth Lindley, and Wallace Eugene Johnson were all arrested following the search. The trio were charged with a combined 38 counts of ill-treatment towards animals, and each also faced a charge of failure to bury a deceased animal.
