Charleston man charged for conspiracy with inmates

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A Charleston man and former inmate was arrested Monday for conspiring with inmates at Goodman and Lieber Correctional Institutions, according to the S.C. Department of Corrections (SCDC).

Justin Tyshad Chisolm, 32, is charged with attempting to provide prisoners with contraband, criminal conspiracy, trespassing, and resisting arrest, SCDC wrote in a release.

On Monday, authorities saw Chisolm trespassing at Goodman Correctional Institution in Richland County, and when they attempted to stop him, Chisolm ran.

A foot pursuit began, and Chisolm was eventually captured with the help of SCDC’s drone team, locating him in nearby woods, said the release.

The release explained that Chisolm previously served two stints in SCDC as a youth.

Columbia Police and Richland County Sheriff’s Office assisted SCDC with Chisolm’s arrest.
