Black History Month celebrations happening at Boone Hall Plantation in February

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Boone Hall Plantation and the African American Settlement Community Historic Commission have partnered to celebrate Black History Month in February.

General Admission fees to Boone Hall Plantation will include access to Black History Month events happening in February. In addition, part of the proceeds will go toward the 1904 Long Point School restoration project.

Below is a breakdown of February events, presentations, and celebrations. All events will occur in the newly renovated Gin House at Boone Hall.

Weekend Speakers

All speakers have unique ties to Mount Pleasant; each speech will occur from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Damon Fordham: Feb. 3
  • Lornabelle Gethers-Coakley: Feb. 11
  • Herb Frazier and Joseph McGill: Feb. 17
  • Nate Hutchinson: Feb. 18
  • Major General Abraham Turner: Feb. 24
  • Lynette Love: Feb. 25
