First Black police officers in Charleston honored during Black History Month

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – In recognition of Black History Month, the Charleston Police Department (CPD) is honoring its first four Black officers. Known as “The Original Four”, according to the CPD, the officers were Sgt. Walter Burke, U.S. Deputy Marshall Cambridge Jenkins Jr., Officer Benjamin S. Taylor, and Sgt. Christopher Ward.
