WSAV, local agencies offer free storm spotter class in the Lowcountry

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Have you ever wanted to become a storm spotter?

Well, WSAV Storm Team 3, USCB Emergency Management and the National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston have teamed up to offer an in-person class for local residents to become NWS SkyWarn Storm Spotters.

The hope is that people who sign up to attend this storm spotting class will also be willing to help WSAV build a local weather watcher network, helping both the NWS and Storm Team 3.

Observations are invaluable to meteorologists during everyday weather and severe weather events.

The class will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in room 156 of the Hargray Building on the USCB Bluffton Campus located at 1 University Blvd, Bluffton, SC 29909.
