From intern to friend: Charleston meteorologist reacts to Jack Roper’s retirement

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Jack Roper announced his retirement Wednesday and many people wanted to send their congratulations.

One of those people is Joshua Marthers.

Marthers grew up in Spartanburg watching Jack’s forecast. Those forecasts are what inspired Marthers to become a meteorologist.

Marthers interned at WSPA and he and Jack both got their meteorologist degrees together.

Marthers is now a meteorologist at WCBD in Charleston.
