Publix supermarkets operate nearly 1400 stores in 8 southern US states. The largest concentration of stores is in Florida with over 800. The Sunshine State is where the company was founded and maintains its headquarters.
South Carolina has 69 of those markets with another one on the way. Although there is no firm opening date for the new store, the company website confirms a new store will be coming soon.
The “One Nexton” location will be at 1274 Nexton Pkwy, Summerville. The store will have a pharmacy with a drive-thru feature.
Publix was founded in 1930 by George Jenkins in Winter Haven, Florida. It is among the 10 largest grocery chains in America and the largest employee-owned company in the US.
