City of Charleston officials update residents on Tropical Storm Debby

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The City of Charleston held a press conference Sunday night at the Gaillard Center to update residents on the city’s preparations for the impact of Tropical Storm Debby.

Residents heard from Mayor William Cogswell, Charleston Police Chief Chito Walker, and Charleston Fire Chief Dan Curia about the city’s plans to prepare for severe weather conditions as a powerful Tropical Storm Debby approaches.

The storm’s biggest concern is its potential to stall over Charleston, leading to extended periods of heavy rainfall and severe flooding.
