Update: All roads have reopened.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – With the outer bands of Tropical Storm Debby hitting the Lowcountry, several roads in Charleston are already flooding, and more are expected to close under the continual rainfall hitting the coast.

The following roads are currently closed:

  • Bull St between Barre St and Gadsen St
  • Gadsen St between Bennett St and Bull St
  • Hasell St at Meeting St
  • Ogier St at Calhoun St
  • Ogier St between Vanderhorst St and Calhoun St
  • Rutledge Ave between Calhoun St and Bennett St
  • S Market St between Meeting St and Church St
  • Washington St between Laurens St and Hassell St

Forecasters predict Debby will stall over the Charleston area after passing through Florida and southeastern Georgia. This will cause 10-20 inches of rainfall to soak the Lowcountry, with 30 inches possible in some areas.

Charleston city officials are encouraging residents to stay inside and avoid driving on the roadways as the storm draws closer.
