Suspect arrested after large fight led to reported shooting at Citadel Mall Friday afternoon

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Police in Charleston are investigating a fight that escalated to a shooting at the Citadel Mall in West Ashley Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance at Citadel Mall involving a large fight between several individuals, said Sgt. Chris Stinson.

The fight happened in the food court area and escalated with one shot being fired.

When officers arrived, several individuals fled the scene on foot, and one teenager who was involved in the altercation was taken to a hospital and treated for minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

A person who was inside getting their haircut at the time told News 2 he saw a fight break out between a group, then a scuffle on the ground. He then saw someone take out a gun

Nathan Mungin, 19, of Adams Run was arrested as a result of the situation. Mungin is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and three counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
