Sunny skies expected for Labor Day Weekend, cooler temperatures and rain to follow

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Whether you’re headed to the beach or for a stroll down King Street get ready to soak up the sun this Labor Day weekend!

Sunday’s forecast promises sunny skies with temperatures reaching the low 90s. However, the heat index is expected to climb into the triple digits between 1 and 3 p.m., so prepare accordingly for a day in the heat.

Meteorologist Grace Lowe advises everyone to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and frequently reapply sunscreen if spending time outdoors. “It’s going to be hot and humid,” she said, urging caution in the midday heat.

Looking ahead to the coming week, expect a shift in the weather pattern. Rain showers are forecasted to move into the area, bringing cooler temperatures after the holiday weekend.

As we approach the peak of hurricane season, Storm Team 2 is monitoring two areas that could develop into tropical systems. While these disturbances are currently not an immediate threat to the Lowcountry, residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared.
