Drug traffickers arrested in multi-agency investigation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of two drug traffickers.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina said a federal grand jury in Columbia returned a one-count indictment against 31-year-old Deangelo Montrel Lamont Simmons, of Moncks Corner, and 36-year-old Raynard Dewayne Williams, of North Charleston, for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.

Both face a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of $20,000.

The case was investigated by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the North Charleston Police Department, the City of Charleston Police Department, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Goose Creek Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Summerville Police Department, and the  Mount Pleasant Police Department.
