Lowcountry man wins $200,000 from lottery ticket

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A man wins big in Summerville after buying a $5 scratch-off from a gas station.

Lottery officials say he was cashing in a small winning ticket when the clerk asked, “Do you want another card?” Even though the lucky man wasn’t planning on buying one, he said yes.

He picked a $5 scratch-off and scanned it using the Lottery’s app and when the message said to “Claim at Lottery”, officials say he knew it was something special.

He won a total of $200,000 in the Players’ Club game. The winning ticket was bought at the Fast Break on Boone Hill Rd.

The man told lottery officials he was planning to use his winnings to help his family and others.

Two more top prizes remain in the game. For selling the claimed ticket, lottery officials say the gas station received a $2,000 commission.
