Multiple school districts switch to eLearning Friday

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Several school districts across the Lowcountry will have eLearning on Friday due to expected impacts from Hurricane Helene this week.

Dorchester District 4 canceled all after-school activities Thursday and will have eLearning on Friday.

Berkeley County schools will learn from home and complete eLearning assignments on Friday as well. After-school activities and after-school care programs close at 6 p.m. Thursday. All school offices will be closed on Friday, and before and after-school care programs are canceled.

“As the storm system is projected to move out of the area that afternoon, after-school activities may resume after 4 p.m. on Friday,” the district said.

The Charleston County School District made the switch to eLearning for Friday as well. All school and district buildings will be closed. Employees will learn remotely.

Kaleidoscope and all other extracurricular activities and afterschool programs scheduled for Friday, September 27, 2024, are canceled; however, Friday football games will continue.
