NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon following vehicle pursuits involving two agencies.
Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies attempted to serve a warrant on an individual connected to a stalking case when an altercation ensued and the suspect took off.
There was a brief chase involving deputies; however, it was suspended in the West Ashley area and a “be on the lookout” was given to area law enforcement agencies.
Officers with the North Charleston Police Department later spotted the vehicle on Azalea Drive and Bonds Avenue and began their own chase, which ended near a Burger King restaurant at Rivers Avenue and Hawthorne Drive.
“When the driver reached I-526 westbound and North Rhett Ave., one of our officers was able to deploy stop sticks, hitting the right tires. The suspect exited North Rhett and continued to Remount Road, and made a right on Rivers Ave. where he collided with another vehicle around Hawthorne Dr.,” said Harve Jacobs, a spokesman for NCPD.
