CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County deputies have arrested two teenagers in connection to the July death of a Summerville man who was found dead inside a crashed vehicle.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Mill Street and Dunmeyer Hill Road for a single-vehicle crash on the night of July 25.
When they arrived, they found a vehicle had crashed into construction equipment. Looking inside the vehicle, they found an unresponsive victim with a gunshot wound.
The Charleston County Coroner pronounced 18-year-old Thaao Stevens dead at the scene.
Tijaye Lebron Carmichael and Donte Tyrell Wright, both of Ladson, have been arrested in connection to Stevens’ death. The pair are both charged with murder, armed robbery, and the possession of a weapon during a violent crime, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said.
Through an investigation, detectives discovered Carmichael and Wright arranged to meet Stevens through Instagram at Dunmeyer Hill Road to buy marijuana. When the individuals met up, one of the suspects pulled a gun and aimed it inside Stevens’ vehicle, attempting to rob him, affidavits state.
