CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man who complained that he was being harassed and stalked is facing multiple charges after attempting to evade law enforcement over a suspended license.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office released additional details Thursday regarding a multi-agency chase that ended near a Rivers Avenue fast food restaurant the day before.
Deputies initially responded to a location on Ashley River Road regarding an alleged harassment complaint.
Anthony Karron Washington, 39, of Hanahan, told deputies that he believed he was being harassed and stalked by a technician who worked on his home within the last year.
Deputies said they discovered that Washington was driving with a suspended license, and he was asked to step out of his vehicle and advised he was under arrest.
Washington resisted, drove off, and a short pursuit ensued on Ashley River Road before it was called off. Deputies then issued a “be on the lookout” to surrounding agencies.
The suspect was spotted a short time later by North Charleston officers who initiated a traffic stop on Azalea Drive, but a second pursuit began. It ended near a Burger King restaurant at Rivers Avenue and Hawthorne Drive. Washington was apprehended by a K-9 officer.
