CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — As Election Day approaches, some parents may be wondering whether their child’s school will be open on Tuesday.
Many schools, including some in the Lowcountry, will serve as polling locations for voters on November 5.
South Carolina law requires public institutions to be closed on Election Day.
“All State-supported colleges and universities, technical education centers and public schools shall be closed general election day in November of each even-numbered year,” the law states. “This day shall not be considered as one of the regular school days for the year for public schools.”
