Detectives charge suspect, injured minor after shooting in Waylyn Park

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.(WCBD) – A boy is receiving treatment from a local hospital after being shot by another juvenile in North Charleston Friday.

North Charleston officers responded to a location on Olympia Avenue at Waylyn Park just before 4:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting, the police agency said.

They found an injured minor who was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Upon further investigation, police discovered the injured minor was allegedly involved in an altercation with the suspect before the shooting.

Detectives arrested a minor suspect in connection to the shooting. He is charged with assault and battery 1st degree, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of stolen property.

When the other minor is released from the hospital, officers will charge him with assault and battery 1st degree and possession of a firearm by a minor, Jacobs explained.
