Creators of locally filmed Outer Banks announce final season
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)—Fans of a hit Netflix show filmed in the Charleston area received some disappointing news Monday.
Creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke announced in a letter addressed to all Pogues that Outer Banks will end after the next season.
“Season five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet,” the trio wrote. “We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.”
Chase Stokes, who plays protagonist John B, posted the letter to his social media alongside a caption saying, “Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you.”
After seeing a picture of a group of teens on the beach at dusk during a power outage, the idea for Outer Banks was born seven years ago, show architects explained.
Since then, Outer Banks stars have traveled all over the Lowcountry to film some of the series’ beloved scenes.
