School bus driver cited in Morrison Drive crash

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A bus driver was cited Monday following a downtown crash that sent four students to the hospital.

Officials with the Charleston Police Department said the driver was found to have contributed to the crash and cited for driving too fast for conditions.

The crash happened between a school bus and a GMC truck shortly before 8 a.m. on Morrison Drive. Four students were on board at the time of the crash.

Charleston PD said the driver and three of the four students were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The Charleston County School District said the bus was taking students to Daniel Jenkins Academy.
