Folly Beach leaders to vote on ‘lights out’ resolution

FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) – Folly Beach City Council will vote Tuesday on the ‘Lights Out Folly Beach’ resolution.

The motion would declare reduced lighting time periods where businesses and residents are encouraged to reduce lighting or turn out the lights to help provide safe passage for migrating birds.

It comes as Folly Beach City Council encourages everyone to help protect birds between dusk and dawn, every night between March and May, and August through October.

Tuesday’s council meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at Folly Beach City Hall.
