Temperatures expected to drop below average this week

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — As the Lowcountry wraps up the holiday season, temperatures are beginning to drop below average for this time of year, according to Storm Team 2.

Stepping out the door Thursday morning, you might want to grab a warmer coat. Early morning temperatures are in the mid to upper 30s. Towards the afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-50s, overall looking to be dry, according to meteorologist Grace Lowe.

“These next several days we’re going to continue to see that cool down, each and every morning, those morning lows will be well below average for this time of year,” said Grace Lowe.

If you have plans for the first weekend of the New Year, forecasters said to expect cold temperatures and bundle up.

On Saturday, the high will be 49 degrees, which is 11 degrees below average. Sunday will warm slightly, reaching a high of 52 degrees, which is 8 degrees below normal, according to Storm Team 2.
