JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) — Friday night, the town of James Island kicked off the new year with a special addition of their ‘First Friday Town Market.’
Friday night’s market had more than 25 local vendors including food trucks, fresh produce straight from the farm, along with arts and crafts. To celebrate the new year, the market featured the band “Holy city steel collective” and had a petting zoo, where children could ride ponies.
James Island Mayor Brook Lyon says the market gives the town and the Lowcountry a chance to support local businesses.
“Supporting our local businesses is so important it encourages entrepreneurship we are happy to be able to support that this is a great place a great opportunity for them to be able to come to show their work and crafts enjoy their delicious food and support the local community,” said Mayor Lyon.
If you missed Friday’s market, you could come out on the first Friday of February.
