(Review) Danny’s Philly Steak: East Bay Gem

Charleston is a foodie town, for sure. Shrimp & Grits and She Crab soup can be found on just about every corner. But sometimes you might be looking for something different—a spot that offers a change-up without breaking the bank. I have just the place for you.

There’s a little hole-in-the-wall joint (I use that term affectionately) at 320 East Bay Street, Charleston—Danny’s Philly Steak. One evening while driving downtown, my wife spotted it from the corner of her eye. She was intrigued and wanted to try it, so naturally, we did.

This little restaurant has seating for maybe 20 people, and I would guess most of their business is takeout. With two friends, we went and gave it a whirl and were pleasantly surprised. We all shared an order of cheese fries with bacon, and we split an order of onion rings alongside our Philly cheesesteak heroes. I never said it was elegant!

The entire tab with soft drinks came in around $60 for 4.

What I will say is all of the food we had was hot, fresh, and outstanding! I wish I could remember the name of the lovely lady who served us—she was a joy. There’s a small parking lot, so no need to park on the street. Very convenient—give Danny’s a try.
