‘I would never do it again’: Tenants, records show life in Charleston Housing Authority

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Some tenants in a Lowcountry public housing project say their living conditions are uninhabitable, while housekeeping inspection records show not all of them are getting checked every quarter in the first place.

The City of Charleston Housing Authority operates more than 1,700 of these public housing units and some date back as old as the 1930s.

Two years ago, folks living in the Gadsden Green area shared issues with their housing conditions, citing mold, mildew and bugs as some of the primary concerns.
