Mayor: 2 designs ‘totally different’ for $5M Charleston affordable housing plans

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – An affordable housing project, which the City of Charleston has committed $5 million to make a reality, is facing some challenges that may slow down the timeline of the project.

Mayor William Cogswell said the new designs developers submitted for the 275 Huger St. project are different than what the council agreed to.

“It’s a totally different design. I don’t know how else to say it. You wouldn’t recognize the two, and again, they have a right to go and submit to the (Board of Architectural Review), which they’re doing, but I’ve told them in no uncertain terms, I do not support it,” Cogswell said…
