Morris Street Baptist Church marks 160 years of faith and resilience in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A behemoth of a building stands tall at 25 Morris St.

Morris Street Baptist Church has stood the test of time and eras that tested the very soul of its congregants. Founded in 1865, post-Civil War, the present building was dedicated in 1909. Since then, it has been the central location for leaders and activists who strategized and organized protests during the Civil Rights era.
