911 calls released from deadly U-Haul chase in Charleston County

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The 911 calls have been released that were made the evening a driver of a U-Haul plowed through two people and crashed into a motorcycle in downtown Charleston.

The incident itself started on April 27 when North Charleston Police officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a U-Haul truck at Dorchester and Meeting Street Roads. The truck refused to stop for officers and took Dorchester Road to I-26 eastbound. The truck then made a left turn toward King Street, and officers discontinued the pursuit once they reached Columbus and King Streets.

Later on, just before 5 p.m., South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover said that the U-Haul truck was heading north in an oncoming lane on 400 Meeting St., escaping from law enforcement…
