Suspect flees North Charleston police, ditches vehicle in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A suspect fled from police in North Charleston Tuesday night, ditching their vehicle in Mount Pleasant before escaping into the woods.

Around 7 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a driver on Helm Avenue, which was going 60 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

The driver fled down Rivers Avenue before entering I-526 eastbound, traveling over 100 miles per hour. A short pursuit was terminated before the vehicle reached Clements Ferry Road…
