12 dogs rescued from neglect in Berkeley County, 2 arrested and face charges

BERKELY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Two people were arrested after Berkeley County law enforcement found a dozen dogs living in “dangerous conditions” on a property in the Windwood neighborhood area.

Douglas James Carder, 64, and Amanda Jean Carder, 58, were arrested and charged with 12 counts of animal neglect after deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office received multiple complaints about aggressive dogs roaming the area, Sheriff Duane Lewis said..

Om June 18, when deputies conducted a search at the residence on Compton Drive, they found 12 dogs living in “extremely poor and dangerous conditions” on the property. The animals had no access to fresh water and were being housed in unsafe shelters, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release…
