Charleston County sergeant crashes car during high-speed pursuit, suspect flees

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a driver in a high-speed pursuit that caused a sergeant to crash their vehicle on Sunday.

An incident report shows a sergeant attempted to perform a traffic stop after noticing a BMW sedan speeding on Interstate 526 westbound near Virginia Avenue at estimated speeds over 110 mph. The driver of the BMW fled the traffic stop and continued driving, exiting onto North Rhett Avenue, crossing into the City of Hanahan.

The driver continued driving at speeds over 100 mph, and the pursuit entered the City of Goose Creek. The pursuit continued as the driver re-entered Charleston County on I-526 westbound and made a right turn onto Rivers Avenue…
