MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – As students prepare to return to class this fall, Berkeley County School District is rolling out a major expansion of school-based mental health services.
District officials say 42 out of 47 schools will now have a licensed clinician embedded on campus, a change they hope will transform how students receive support.
“We feel that that’s going to make a huge impact,” said Dr. Kylon Middleton, Chief Officer of Student Support Services. “It allows us to hire very specific skill sets of clinicians that can be placed in certain schools that provide, you know, therapeutic and or cognitive behavioral therapeutic models that addresses the specific needs of the students.”…
