Cyclists pedal across South Carolina raising $1.1 million for Alzheimer’s research

WACH — More than 400 bicyclists are pedaling across South Carolina this weekend in the Ride to End ALZ.

The event is a 257-mile journey raising funds for Alzheimer’s research, care, and support.

The three-day ride began Thursday in Simpsonville and ends this Sunday in Mount Pleasant.

Organizers said riders stopped in Newberry on Friday and departed early Saturday morning for a 94-mile stretch to Orangeburg, with additional stops in Leesville and North.

The event, presented by the David Moore Foundation, has already raised more than $1.1 million toward a $1.5 million goal, according to the Alzheimer’s Association…
