Pop-Up Storms Again Today!

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Hit or miss storms will continue along with the heat and humidity for the upcoming week! Temperatures this afternoon will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. The heat index will climb to near 105° this afternoon and pop-up storms will be around, especially away from the coast. Any storm could produce heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning. The best chance of storms will be between 2-6 pm. The storm coverage may increase slightly Tuesday and Wednesday as the atmosphere will have slightly higher moisture levels.

TROPICS: Watching a trough of low pressure, south of Charleston, with a chance of some development in the upcoming days. This disturbance will drift west, across Florida, and into the northern Gulf over the next day or two. Models are showing mixed messages over whether this will develop or not. Main concern currently would be the possibility of heavy rain from the Panhandle of Florida to the Louisiana coastline. This poses no threat to the South Carolina coastline at this time.
