WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCBD) – Landfills in Charleston County are filling up, and fast. The county is looking to acquire land for a new land fill, to meet the needs of the growing population.
The Environmental Management Agency wants to bring in experts to make sure the spot they choose has minimal environmental impact. The director of the Environmental Management Agency, Thomas Cue, says the Bees Ferry Landfill has about 30 years lefts before they will need to relocate.
Cue explained, “but we would go up and, that could add another ten years to the whole thing. So we could be 28, 30 years before we actually need to move to a new spot for this exact location”…
