Hounds seized in animal cruelty case need foster homes after custody change

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — A major update in a heartbreaking case of animal cruelty out of Berkeley County.

Thirty-five dogs were taken from a property in Goose Creek, and the owner now faces more than 70 charges. In court Friday, a judge finalized a decision on where the animals will live while the case plays out.

Deputies say the dogs were discovered crammed into filthy, urine-soaked crates with no access to clean food or water. Investigators also say they found the remains of four other dogs buried on the property.
