FIRST ALERT: Dangerous heat index levels, lower rain coverage to close out the weekend!

CHARLESTON, SC. (WCSC) – Hot and humid conditions remain in place with dangerous heat index values expected once again today.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for our area from 11 AM through 8 PM. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s and when you factor in the humidity, it will feel like it’s around 105-110°. A few afternoon showers and storms could limit how high the heat index climbs for some of us. Locally heavy rainfall, gusty wind and frequent lightning are the primary hazards.

Rain chances increase as we head into the new week with several disturbances working their way over towards the Southeast. We’ll continue to monitor trends for a few stronger storms and the risk of locally heavy rainfall…
