Charleston, S.C. (WCBD) – It’s shark week on TV, but here off the east coast, sharks aren’t just on the screen. The waters off the South Carolina coast are seeing more fins than usual.
The rise in local sightings and encounters has sparked concern among coastal communities and beachgoers in the Lowcountry. Recreational beach attendance has been on the rise, increasing human shark interactions, by bringing in more people to the shark’s natural habitat.
