NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Two people were charged in connection with a gambling scheme that pilfered $21,000 from one man, according to a news release from the North Charleston Police Department.
James Darr, 25, and Valva Kennedy, 51, both from Santee, were charged with swindling, according to law enforcement. Darr was arrested on July 1 and Kennedy on Thursday, July 23.
The man was lured into a bingo-style game at a customer appreciation tent near a fast station on Ashley Phosphate Road on Jan. 26. After being given free attempts, he was then told that for $20, he could win up to $250, according to investigators.
