Number of tick-related illnesses in SC highest in Lowcountry, experts warn

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – As summer ticks on, health officials are warning Lowcountry residents to take extra precautions outdoors as tick-related illnesses continue to surge across the state.

Emergency room visits related to tick bites are at the highest level nationally since 2019, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In South Carolina’s Tri-County area, a local doctor says those numbers are leading the state.
