James Island businesswoman announces run for Charleston City Council

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — James Island businesswoman and nonprofit CEO Leslie Skardon announced her candidacy for Charleston City Council’s District 12 seat Monday.

Skardon is the found of the nonprofit C3: Connecting the Community for Change – Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders, a program that South Carolina students can attend to learn about civil rights history. She is a Commissioner for the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission, an appointee to the City of Charleston Commission on Women, and has served on the International African American Museum’s Interfaith Advisory Committee and as a board member for the Charleston and State League of Women Voters.

“This campaign is about service. It is about local issues and bringing our community together,” Skardon said. “Your City Council representative should be your first call when dealing with local issues. Whether it’s potholes, sidewalks, development or flooding, I will answer your call and be an effective voice to help improve our community’s day-to-day life.”…
