MUSC ranked best hospital in South Carolina; top 13% nationally

  • MUSC named South Carolina’s top hospital for 11th year in a row
  • Ranked in top 13% nationally by U.S. News & World Report
  • 25 MUSC programs rated “high performing,” including OB-GYN at No. 16
  • Recognition based on survival, patient experience, and nursing care

U.S. News & World Report named the Medical University of South Carolina the No. 1 hospital in South Carolina, holding the title for 11 years.

Each of the 4,400 hospitals ranked by the publication are measured by its survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care, according to a news release. Decisions are also made with data from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists.

“As South Carolina’s only public statewide hospital system, MUSC Health is honored to be recognized as the state’s top hospital for the eleventh consecutive year,” Dr. Patrick Cawley, CEO of MUSC Health and executive vice president of MUSC health affairs, said in the release. “This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our multidisciplinary teams who continually push the boundaries of medical innovation and compassionate care.
